Now that I’m on hold with Vonage, for an estimated 25 minutes more, I decided to use that time to share JUST how bad vonage sucks. Late last week a friend of mine (Tim) got me to try Skype Pro, which gives me unlimited outbound calls to the US and Canada for a whopping $36.00 per year.
After trying repeatedly to contact vonage via phone (their actual customer service lines were dead.. how funny is that? I’m trying to cancel my phone service because it sucks and I can’t call THEM because it sucks so bad THEIR lines aren’t working! Irony?) I tried to reach them via email, only to be told that “we have to speak to the person on the phone to verify they are the account holder before we can discontinue service.”
Ok… most of you know I have a large amount of patience, but it does have a finite limit. I googled alternate phone numbers for vonage, and found one, only to find that it too was dead… wow. Having no alternative, I called the Sales line and told the guy on the phone that HE was going to put me through to SOMEONE who could disconnect my service. He hells me” ok..umm.. I guess I can do that…” Damn right bucky, you sure can. Now get your butt outta that chair and go get me a human being RIGHT NOW!
Twenty minutes later, after he has returned to the phone about 15 times to ask me if I want to wait, he STILL can’t get me transferred. Now, I appreciate his loyalty, because what he didn’t want to do was tell me that “Umm.. sir.. you’re right.. our customer service lines are dead” So instead he tells me they are all working with other customers, but you can tell he’s lying because the poor dude was just about in tears trying to get me off the phone.. to ANYONE besides him who could just cancel my account. Well, guess what happened.. their phone system dropped my call… WONDERFUL SERVICE you turd buckets!
Now, it’s three days later, Monday.. and I’ve been on hold for about 20 minutes already just to cancel my account. I’ve actually been subjected to 30 second intervals from their sales promos telling me how wonderful they are.. it’s getting aggravating. I’ve paid 24.95 for 12 months, and 9.95 for the last three months and used the phone exactly zero times… now I can’t even get rid of it!
Think I’m alone in this? I decided to google the words “Vonage Sucks” just to see what I get. lol.

I’m really getting irate now. I seriously wonder if I’m going to have to deal with this guy who says “Well, let’s see how we can help you out. Maybe we can convince you not to cancel.” It’s a good thing I can’t reach through this phone and choke someone to death.
Wow.. I’m now at 35:34 minutes on hold and counting… it’s 8:21 now.. been on hold this LAST time since 7:45, plus the two calls previous tonight when I just gave up..

See that? 40 minutes to get someone.. and then YES, she’s still trying to offer me free months and actually trying to get me to REFER people to them! LMAO! Get a life people! You SUCK! No one wants you! Vonage is like that fat pimpled girl in high-school with poor hygiene and no teeth.. c’mon!
46 minutes and 11 seconds and I’m finally free of Vonage! Yeah!

I agree these people suck. I signed up for the service and never used it because the box they sent me that had to be attached to my computer was WAY too large and looked complicated to install. After 4 months of never hooking it up or using the service, I call them to cancel. They tell me there is an “early termination fee” along with a charge for the “free” box. To cancel, they want another $90. They said there was a “verbal” contract with me that I would pay early termination fees and for the box if I cancel early, even though I never spoke with them in person.
These buys BITE THE BIG ONE!! Skype all the way.
I signed up with these idiots on Monday. It took 45 minutes on the phone and I was absolutely assured that there would be no break in my service. I was to receive the device on Friday and it takes, according to Vonage, at least 10 days to transfer your number. Not AT&T. They transferred my number on Friday, and guess what? Vonage didn’t ship the stupid box thing until Thursday. It won’t get here until Monday afternoon. Now I’m trying to call Vonage and I was on hold the first time for 25 minutes and now I’m on hold again for another 25. They’re response? It’s not fair, but there’s nothing you can Vonage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called these idiots back again, because I never got anyone to pick up and the jerk that answered the phone said he was a supervisor. He said he has contacts at UPS and that he’d have to put me on hold to call them. I explained that I would give him 5 minutes and then I was going to hang up and start calling the Better Business Bureaus, the FCC, and anyone else I could think of to make life miserable for Vonage. He said if I choose to hang up that’s my decision, but he wouldn’t call me back–because it’s not his job! And he’s a supervisor!
39.99 a year unlimited in and out call free 411 and voice mail. I bought 1 and really works. And Vonage is scared to death of them. Did you know they charge a 40 dolar disconnect fee. The modem is another 40 and is only returnable for 30 days. They charged me $90 to dissconnect. But I told them that was the worst thing they could do because I have a big mouth. So im taking $90 out there ass eveytime I switch somebody who has it already to magic jack. I recently brought it to the hotel disconnected the hotel phone and plugged the hotel phone into the magic jack used the hotels free internet and made calls all week long for nothing. My phone rings anywhere in the world when the jack is hooked up. I saved probably $60 that weekend because I was on at least 8 hours and made 20 long distance calls.
I’m here too, on hold and waiting for Vonage to answer the phone. This is my second call to them in the last half hour. I want to disconnect my service, but the first idiot I talked to there (who could barely speak English), just kept telling what a smart and wonderful customer I am. After each of these stupid compliments, he would hit me up with a new sales pitch. This literally went on for nearly a half hour before I finally had to hang up on the guy. It became apparent that he never was going to cancel my account — only keep me online forever until I finally caved into one of his sales pitches. Right now, I’m on hold waiting to speak to someone at their corporate headquarters. This company is a loser.
Vonage is a bunch of crap. I cancelled and they told me I would have to pay a $39.95 early cancellation fee if I did not fill out the 1 year commitment. So they gave me 2 months free then charged me $4.95 for 3 months to get me to one year. So I waited all this out and then was charged the fee anyway when I called after the year was complete they told me “Sorry the other guy told you that, but your screwed!” Its not fair these companies can do this crap. Cost way more than $40 in time an legal to fight these thieves.
i have been trying to cancel my vonage service for 4 months now!! first of all it would drop calls 6-10 at least times a day. then when i tried to cancel they wanted to charge me an early cancelation fee…ha to a service that doesnt even work. they dont have a problem finding my account every month to get their money but when it comes time to cancel they cant find my account!! then when they finally did they asked me my security question which after all these months i forgot the answer so that sends them into a bigger tailspin!! i have never been so frustrated!! i cant understand how they stay in business!!

Who, exactly, is supposed to protect us consumers from falling victim to their shady business practices?
I told the CSR that if she tried to access my bank account for the “termination fee” of $129.00 that I would contact a lawyer and file criminal charges. Immediately after we hung up, I called my bank and the charge for that early termination fee suddenly appeared! As the teller and I were on the phone!

Had the same types of problems with customer service.. They are programmed to up-sell services and keep you connected at all cost or screw you out of a disconnect fee… im no racism but think there outsource outside the US of customer service that provides no customer service speaks poorly of there chump opinion of the customer and the early adapters that are the core of the business will spread the word via the internet of poor treatment and the company which has yet to make a profit will be out of business soon in the next couple years… Bought the number, fax line and 800 number.. the fax did not work after many attempts to correct via various setting (not enough band width)… missed a couple important faxes that cost some big bucks…. the 800 number was the same number as another business and received lots of angry calls that put me over the 500 minutes for a few months and was unable to correct the number after many calls to vonage… i put that 800 number in a couple advertisements and on business cards and now my prospects get a dead line when they all the number… the regular number is OK but not that great a deal… have also switched to magicjack and to rapidfax and am trying to get rid of vonage without any more charges… canceled the credit card i listed at the site for payment and would love to participate and provide documentation to a class action suit if there is one out there…. AVOID VONAGE… very bad company soon to be out of business… dump there stock if you have it!!!!!
Vonage sucks I guess says it all. The guy who sold it to me over the phone lied to me and said my service would not be harmed. I’m two days now with no phone service, can’t get Vonage to work and their customer and tech support are clueless.
I have Skype and it works fine so does my DSL service.
I have never seen such a ripp-off, poor company in my life.
NO DOUBT THIS COMPANY WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS. How many people can you rip-off before EVERYONE knows it’s a scam.
When applying for Vonage I was told repeatedly that my Hughes Net provider was compatible with Vonage Service. Also was told if in fact you are not totally satisfied you can cancell within 30 days and recieve a full refund of your 12.95 activation fee. IT IS NOT HUGHES NET COMPATIBLE! Called to cancell well within my 30 day trial period, was then told I would be temporarily charged a $39.99 fee and upon secure return of their transmitter (which I have to pay shipping and shipping insurance for!) my account would then be credited my full refund. My response was that I never was informed of a temporary $39.99 fee if cancelling prior to 30 days they informed me that their full terms of service was emailed to me secdondary to it would take too long to cover full TOS via phone call. They further informed me that my services would not be cancelled unless I paid the fee and that my checking account would be charged the monthly fee regardless if I used their service or not. THIS IS THE MOST DISHONEST, SCHEMING COMPANY THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO DO BUSINESS WITH!!!!!!!
They sure do suck. I only have had them for 6 weeks and boy do they suck. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!! I had to pay over 100.00 to ATT because I had to keep my old phone on at an old address just so they could get their stupid transfer together. It took them about 6 weeks and multiple calls, emails, and messages to get the transfer to go thru. I told ATT I’d rather just have my old number forwarded to my cell # then continue dealing with Vonage and they told me that unfortunately I’d have to wait til the transfer was complete otherwise my old business # would be “lost in space.” So, my transfer is finally complete and now I try to cancel them and of course their cancellation department isnt even available on Saturday at 11 am. Talk about a LAME company! Who is ready for a class action lawsuit? Let’s go, people! Anyone know a great attorney? THEY SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!
MY vonage never worked. NEVER WORKED! Ever. Not once. I hate time warner more than anything else, but sadly, I am going back to them. I have wasted more time on technical support with vonage than anything else in life. DO NOT GET VONAGE IT BLOWS!!!!!!!!!
